We at Douglas Stokes Furniture CC strive to provide the customer with the highest quality furniture and service.
It has become our mission to make sure that the customer is entirely satisfied with the end product ensuring the return of business. In order to achieve this objective, we endeavour to create designs and drawings unique to each customer ensuring each specific need and requirement. We manufacture our furniture using only the highest quality of hand-picked solid timbers and veneers.
This company has gone from strength to strength and has been supplying Private Clientele as well as the Hospitality Industry with the highest quality customised furniture for the past 26 years. We have been in the business of supplying superior quality furniture to private clientele and hotels and casinos and will endeavour to keep it that way for many years to come.
Our Story
Douglas Stokes started his apprenticeship as a Cabinet Maker in 1990 at Hartmann and Keppler under the wise supervision of Mr Shopper. He worked there for 3 years and achieved his goal by gaining the Cabinet Makers Diploma. During this time he also achieved the award for the Cabinet Maker of the year and attended Careers 2000 in Amsterdam. After returning from Europe he worked at Modellers of Antiques – Classic Revivals under the supervision of Mr Reck. Here he worked for 3 years gaining experience in making Italian carved furniture.
In 1996 he went on his own to open Douglas Stokes Furniture CC. The factory was initially in Krugersdorp and grew rapidly encouraging the business to move to larger premises in Kya Sand, Randburg. At this stage it became a family affair as his wife joined the business in order to assist with the increasing demands on the clerical and CAD drawings side of the business.

What type of timbers do you use?
We only use exotic timbers, for example African Mahogany, Red or White Oak, Ash, Cherry, Walnut, Pink or white beech. These woods are harder and will last much longer than the softer timbers.
Do you guarantee wooden products that stand outside?
We don’t as we can’t control the damage that the outside elements will cause wood.
How long does an order usually take to be complete?
We work on a 6 to 8 week delivery time from date of acceptance of order, drawings and payment of 70% deposit.
I know what I want, but have specific size restrictions, can you make furniture to fit where I want it?
We make custom made furniture and will cater to the individual requirements of our clients.
Can I put a glass of water on your painted surfaces?
We seal our furniture with a durable paint that shouldn’t leave watermarks.
I have a photo of what I want, can you work from that?
We will make an appointment to meet up with you to custom design your required furniture. We then do a technical drawing that will specify the wood, size, colour, and other details that you may require.
Do you have a showroom?
Unfortunately we don’t, but there are plenty of pictures on our website and our facebook page to show the quality of work we do and to give you an idea of what kind of furniture you may need for your home, office or Hotel/Lodge.
